"Trying to guess what the (mass) audience wants and then trying to satisfy that is usually a bad recipe for getting something good."
-Aaron Sorkin
It is a myth that people don't know what they want until someone else shows it to them - if you can imagine it, then it can be created. That's why following audience trends with the intention of merely appeasing them is an overall fool-proof way of creating something good. Through creativity and imagination you can almost guarantee satisfaction if you take the time to create something out of your ordinary everyday experiences or personal reflections. Experiences and life stories offer the audience a chance to connect with the work you are doing; if Aaron Sorkin has taught us anything, it is that if we pay attention to our instincts and simply try our best we can produce powerful results.
