THE BLOG - Putting it All Together

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

I have opted to use my We R Memory Keepers "The Cinch" to put my Blog Journal together. I have decided on the pages I'm going to use.

  • 2 pages double-sided for my Blog Post Ideas

  • 6 pages double-sided for the month and year calendars; and

  • 45 double-sided pages for my post planner.

Ends up being about 53 pages. So it will be for 6 months.

I printed originally printed them on 8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper, but cutting it out was a nightmare making sure that I was cutting it the right way. I changed my mind and ended up cutting the paper to 6.25 x 9 and then printing the design on it.

Then on to the cover. I used my gray canvas textured background and printed two copies, one for the front cover and one for the back cover. I made the artboard in Illustrator 6.50 x 9.25 to account for my final size of 6.25 x 9 when it is cut. I printed these pages on sublimation paper with sublimation ink because I wanted a cover that can with stand any possible liquid spill accidents. Also a few years ago, I purchased heavy cardstock that my printers do not like. I can't print on it no matter what I try.

I found a cool technique on YouTube by Honestly SpINKing 365 this past winter in this video. She sublimates on a poster board using laminating film. I highly recommend watching her video! I found the laminating film roll on Amazon for about $30 for 500 feet and used it to make some tags for some of my crochet projects (that's another project you will see in the future). They turned out pretty cool, so I figure, why not try it on my journal cover and see how it holds up!

So you lay the film on the cardstock and press the film onto the cardstock with a heat press. (380 for 15-20 seconds). Then you press your design on the film covered cardstock (380 for 60 seconds).

On to the paper trimming and punching of the holes. It took me the day and I have learned a lot from from putting it all together. I am not completely happy with the spiral binding, but I also have the wrong size on there (sometimes you have to work with what you have). In any event, it will serve it's purpose right now.

I hope you enjoyed and got some insight for your next journal project. Keep creatiing!!
