Materials

  • 4 ply yarn - Big Twist (Sky Blue) used for this video [2 skeins] (each skein: 170g/6oz, 347m/380yds)

  • I - 5.5mm crochet hook

  • 1.5” (25mm) button

  • Needles (weaving ends & button)

  • Scissors

  • Yardstick/Tape Measure (needs to measure at least 18”)

  • Clover Yarn Twister (optional)

Approximately 48 x 8”


Stitch Key

FHb-hdc: Foundation Half-Double Crochet.

HbHdc: Herringbone Half Double Crochet.

CL: Cluster.

3-dc Cluster: 3 Double Crochet Cluster.

3-dc tog: 3 dc in same stitch on top of 3-dc Cluster.

sc (bo): Single crochet back bump.

hdc: half-double croch…

sl st (fo): Slip stitch front loop only.

Ch3: Chain 3.

Ch2: Chain 2.

tc-2dc: Treble crochet-2 double crochet cable.

Ch1: Chain 1.

sk st: Skip stitch l.

turn: Turn.

dc: Double crochet.

sc: Single crochet.

2dc: 2 double crochet in the same space.

hdc tog: Half Double Crochet together.

Specialty Stitch & Technique Key

FHb-hdc (Foundation Half Double Crochet) (start) create a slip knot, attach to hook, ch 3, yo, insert hook into 1st stitch on hook, yo, bring up a loop (3 loops on hook”loh”), yo, bring through 2 loops, yo, bring through 2 loops. [Yo, insert hook into previous stitch, yo bring up a loop (3 loh), yo, bring through 2 loops, yo bring through 2 loops].




Hb-Hdc (Herringbone Half Double Crochet) {NOTE: to create the slant, you will always skip the first stitch in row and add that stitch to the end chain}. Yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo pull through 2 loops.





CL (cluster): Ch3, yo, insert hook into back loop of base of ch3, yo, pull through 2, yo, insert hook into back loop of base again, yo, pull through 2, yo pull through all 3 loops on hook.






3dc-CL (3 double crochet Cluster): yo, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo, pull through 2 loops, yo (2 loops left on hook), yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, pull through 2 loops, yo, insert hook into the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through all four loops on hook.





Tc-2dc Cable (Triple Crochet-2 Double Crochet Cable): yo twice, insert hook into 3rd stitch from hook, yo, pull up loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops) x 3 times [treble crochet made), yo, insert hook {behind treble crochet made} into 1st skipped stitch, yo, (pull through 2 loops) x 2 times (double crochet made), yo, insert hook {behind treble crochet made} into 2nd skipped stitch, yo, (pull through 2 loops) x 2 times (double crochet made,





Twisted Fringe:

- Sc 24 stitches evenly across short-top edge of scarf, ch1, turn (24 stitches)

Create the fringe in each of the next 24 stitches

- Pull out an 18" loop on your hook.

- Holding the 18" loop taught on your hook (your finger or use the Clover Yarn Twister), twist the yarn 50 times. (If you didn’t use your hook, place the twisted yarn back on your hook.)

- Wrap the twisted yarn around your hand and insert hook into same stitch, yo and slip stitch.

- Insert hook into next stitch and make another slip stitch to lock the fringe in. Repeat these steps 23 more times in each sc stitch across.

Note: Final slip stitch will be in the last stitch (2 ss in same stitch), fasten off and weave in ends.
